Monan invasion of Gryben
In 3553, Monan Security invaded Gryben in an attempt to capture the Timonic Fusion Device from Free Time after Ba'aruk was exposed by Leela as a spy in Nepenthe's forces. Per Amendment 949 Subsection 3, the invasion was legal.
Narvin ordered Gallifrey's Time Control to surround the planet with Battle TARDISes armed with null space missiles, a threat which the High Monan responded to by refusing to withdraw his troops and promising war with Gallifrey should any Monans by harmed. To avoid this, Romana II went to Gryben with Mephistopheles Arkadian to retrieve the device, which did not detonate and instead dematerialised, giving no reason for the invasion to continue.
Romana surmised that the invasion had been brought about by a Time Lord with the intention of forcing her into destroying Gryben and leaving no evidence of the device, ruining her political career. (AUDIO: Weapon of Choice)
