Cardiff Earthquake, prefixed as PRESS STATEMENT: Cardiff Earthquake on the story's page, was the twelfth short story and sixteenth release published exclusively on the U.N.I.T. website in June 2005 by the BBC webteam to coincide with the broadcast of Boom Town. Cardiff Earthquake was the eighth release in the UNIT Press Briefings series of in-universe press briefings.

Plot

In the wake of the Cardiff Earthquake, on 8 October, UNIT reports in a press briefing that the clean-up operation has been successful. However, Margaret Blaine is among the many people missing and UNIT's Scientific Advisors have agreed that, due to the instability of the ground the plant was to be built on, the Blaidd Drwg Power Plant project should be abandoned.
