An alternate timeline is a reality which is different from a parallel universe in that historical events have been altered by a time traveller or other temporal phenomena. These alterations can be prevented from having ever come to pass, although memories of them are usually retained.

Later Rory Williams is lost to the Crack as well. Many other worlds are affected by the cracks, caused by the TARDIS exploding. The cracks, there changes and everything that happened because of them are erased when the Doctor pilots the Pandorica into the heart of the explosion, reseting the universe and timeline. |
