• 22 January: Queen Victoria dies on the Isle of Wight. A comment by the Fourth Doctor leads Sarah Jane Smith to believe that the queen was one of his companions, though he was more probably referring to Victoria Waterfield. • 22 January: Edward VII ascends the throne of Great Britain and Ireland. Sometime during his reign (1901-1910), a Rutan invasion of Earth is averted by the Doctor at the Fang Rock lighthouse. (DW: Horror of Fang Rock)
