Wales was a small principality west of England, part of the UK. The capital and largest city of Wales was Cardiff.
Historical events
- The Doctor and Jo Grant visited a mining area in Wales in the 1970s. (DW: The Green Death)
- In the 1950s a Navarino group together with The Doctor and Melanie Bush crash at a holiday camp in Wales. (DW: Delta and the Bannermen)
- The Doctor and Rose Tyler encounter both Charles Dickens and a time rift in 1879 on Christmas Day in Cardiff. (DW: The Unquiet Dead)
- The TARDIS landed in Cardiff in September 2006 to use the wound of the time rift to refuel. After the the Doctor, Rose and Jack meet up with Mickey, the group discover that Margaret Blaine survived the destruction of 10 Downing Street and is now Lord Mayor of Cardiff. After the group catch her outside City Hall, Margaret admits to the Doctor that she plans to demolish Cardiff Castle and build the Blaidd Drwg (English: Bad Wolf) nuclear power station. Using a combination of a nuclear explosion and the time rift, she would use a tribophysical waveform macrokinetic extrapolator as a pan-dimensional surfboard to escape the solar system after Earth's destruction. Behind the Scenes
- The revived series of Doctor Who, as well as all seasons of Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures were produced and filmed in Wales, with most of the latter taking place in and around Cardiff.
- Location filming for The Abominable Snowmen and The Five Doctors were filmed in desolate-looking areas of North Wales while outside shooting filming The Masque of Mandragora was done in Portmeirion, also in North Wales.
