The Complete History
Doctor Who: The Complete History was a fortnightly series of partworks published in hardback format by Panini UK with Hachette Partworks.
The series was only available to purchase in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and wasn't available digitally.[1]
It featured revised instalments of Andrew Pixley's contributions to the Archive feature in Doctor Who Magazine and Doctor Who Magazine Special Edition, covering the making of Doctor Who's stories on television, along with some cases where features have been written from scratch specifically for The Complete History. (DWM 490)
John Ainsworth was initially the sole editor, but later on he alternated his role with Mark Wright, with Ainsworth editing the even-numbered issues and Wright editing the odd-numbered ones. (DWMSE 47)
The cover artwork was illustrated by Lee Johnson. The series was billed to present "the history of every Doctor Who TV story alongside a wealth of photographs". (DWM 490) The spine of each issue was colour-coded by Doctor.
Content from issues covering episodes featuring the Twelfth Doctor was later reprinted in The Doctor Who Companion; volumes one, two, and three.
The publication order of the issues didn't match the order in which the stories were broadcast, instead going back and forth through all of the show's history in order to "reflect the variety and breadth of the series".[2]
