Looking for Pudsey was a one-part 2016 minisode on Children in Need that featured the Twelfth Doctor as played by Peter Capaldi. The programme was later added to BBC iPlayer in a whole story format.

Synopsis

Eddie Redmayne is searching for Pudsey so he gets into contact, assisted by Mel and Sue, with many famous individuals, the Twelfth Doctor being one of them.

Notes

  • During the Doctor Who scene, the intro theme can be heard playing.
  • This is the first freshly filmed Children in Need special since The Great Detective.
  • It is the second appearance of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor on screen in 2016, the other being the Class television story For Tonight We Might Die.
  • The appearance of the Doctor in the sketch was not publicised.
  • Pudsey was originally the Twelfth Doctor's companion in Doctor Who Game Maker, this ties in with the Twelfth Doctor perhaps knowing who he was and being contacted in the special.
  • The Twelfth Doctor appears on the TARDIS phone.
  • The Doctor mentioned Pudsey - a green fellow with five tentacles that's always screaming, Pudsey a semi-invisible, beard and squirts ink out of his belly button and Pudsey a Gelatinous with a large hat and loves custard. As well as a yellow, fury, spotty eye patch wearing Pudsey that destroyed three galaxies with his mega sonic death ray.
  • Even though Mel and Sue knows about the Doctor and the TARDIS, the BBC Switchboard does not have access to the TARDIS phone. The only way they patched Eddie through to TARDIS, was because they spilled a banana milkshake on the console.
  • The Doctor thinks Eddie Redmayne is a "strange man".
