Icarus was a winged humanoid.

The god of a group of intelligent owls in the Obverse gave them two giant eggs to guard, telling them they must not hatch prematurely. Daedalus stole one and let it hatch before its time, from which Icarus emerged. Daedalus declared the boy as his son.

The young Icarus was kidnapped and brought to Earth, where he was adopted by Maddy Sharp. She named him Ian, after her lost son. He was eventually returned to Daedalus in the Obverse after he grew wings. The owls attacked Icarus in Daedalus' throne room, tearing him to pieces. (PROSE: The Blue Angel)

By another account, Ian continued to grow up in England, becoming a young gay man living in Levenshulme who liked science fiction. He became a friend of Dodie Golightly. When she met him, she assumed he was Irish and noticed his pale skin and what appeared to be a tattoo of blue feathers which covered his collarbone. (PROSE: Hunky Dory)
