Invasion of Manhattan

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The Invasion of Manhattan, (TV: Evolution of the Daleks) also known as the Dalek-Human Hybrid Incident, (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual) was an attempted invasion of Manhattan in 1930 by the Dalek Cult of Skaro, led by Dalek Caan, after they overthrew Dalek Sec. Having converted over a thousand humans into Dalek-Humans, the Daleks' planned to convert the rest of Manhattan's population in what they intended to be the first stage of the conquest of Earth. However, the invasion was thwarted when the Dalek-Humans, having been imbued with the Tenth Doctor's Time Lord DNA, turned against the Cult of Skaro and destroyed Daleks Thay and Jast. In response, Dalek Caan remotely terminated all the Dalek-Humans before initiating an emergency temporal shift to escape. (TV: Evolution of the Daleks)

History

A day to come

The Time War-era Time Lords saw a node of this event, teaching them that Sec seemed to be the most open of the cult to new ideas, while the other three members defaulted to typical Dalek responses when faced with such options, and that the group's individuality could cause strife amongst them. Recognising that the human-hybrid Sec knew much about Dalek strategy while also being welcome to emotions, the military, despite seeing the node foretell Sec's death, sought permission from the High Council to extract the Human-Dalek from that moment in the timeline, hoping to recruit him. Prelude

Main article: Battle of Canary Wharf

In anticipation of the Last Great Time War, the Dalek assembled four Daleks who had shown initiative to become the Cult of Skaro (PROSE: Birth of the Legend) who were to use imagination, thinking "as the enemy thinks". Consisting of Dalek Sec, the leader, Thay, Jast, and Caan, the Cult of Skaro escaped the universe to the Void in a Void Ship known as the Sphere. As such, they survived the near-extinction of the Daleks and, when they emerged within the Torchwood Tower on Earth in 2007, were believed by the Tenth Doctor to be the last surviving Daleks in existence. However, they had brought with them the Genesis Ark, a dimensionally transcendental prison ship stolen from the Time Lords, which contained millions of Daleks. They soon came into conflict with an army of Cybermen who had crossed over from a parallel universe in the Sphere's wake. Though the Cult were successful in opening the Genesis Ark and unleashing the Daleks within, intending to exterminate all life on Earth, the Doctor forced those that had crossed over back through the Breach, with the Cult initiating an emergency temporal shift to escape whilst the other Daleks were sent into the Void along with the Cybermen. Aftermath

Main article: 21st century Dalek invasion

Breaking the time lock, the temporal shift took Caan into the Time War where he rescued Davros from the Nightmare Child. Emerging in the post-war universe, Davros created a New Dalek Empire which invaded Earth. (TV: The Stolen Earth) Having saw time, Caan was believed to have gone insane; infact, he had come to believe that the Daleks must be destroyed, setting in motion a chain of events which led to the destruction of the empire. (TV: Journey's End) Nevertheless, a one ship survived and, having found the last of the Progenitor devices, created a New Dalek Paradigm. (TV: Victory of the Daleks)
