Prior to this event, Steven had never heard of the World Cup. (AUDIO: This Sporting Life)

The final, between England and West Germany, resulted England winning the World Cup with a score of 4-2. (COMIC: The Love Invasion) The Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, and Rory Williams all attended twice. (COMIC: They Think It's All Over; PROSE: Extra Time)
