George Jeffreys

George Jeffreys was Lord Chancellor of England in 1688. Prior to that he served a judge.

During the Glorious Revolution in 1688, George Jeffreys sentenced the Second Doctor and Zoe Heriot to hanging, but Jamie McCrimmon was able to save them. (AUDIO: The Glorious Revolution)

In 1980, the Fourth Doctor mentioned Jeffreys as one of many great Cambridge alumni while punting with Romana II. (TV: Shada, The Five Doctors)

The Eighth Doctor encountered George Jeffreys as one of Sepulchre's avatars in a re-enactment of 17th century London. In this re-enactment, Jeffreys was presiding over the Old Bailey. The Doctor referred to Jeffreys having a wife and seven children. (AUDIO: Dead London)
