BBC Four is the BBC's fourth channel. Its first Doctor Who-related broadcast was a BBC Choice ident in 1998. As of 2010 it is the only one of the four BBC stations that has yet to air an original series related to the Doctor Who franchise.

A rebroadcast of An Unearthly Child was shown on 21 November 2013, two days prior to the 50th anniversary date, immediately following the broadcast of the docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time on BBC Two.

On 1 November 2023, Talking Doctor Who and Doctor Who @ 60: A Musical Celebration were broadcast on BBC Four, marking the televised debut of the Whoniverse ident.

On 23 November 2023, the date of the 60th anniversary, The Daleks in Colour was broadcast on BBC Four followed by a repeat of An Adventure in Space and Time, which featured an update replacing the original's appearance by Matt Smith with Ncuti Gatwa to represent the future of Doctor Who. Incidentally, both the 2013 premiere and the 2023 update of An Adventure in Space and Time fell on a Thursday.

On 20 June 2024, the Tales of the TARDIS episode covering Pyramids of Mars [+]Loading...["Pyramids of Mars (TV story)"] aired as a tie-in to the Season 1 finale two-parter The Legend of Ruby Sunday [+]Loading...["The Legend of Ruby Sunday (TV story)"] and Empire of Death [+]Loading...["Empire of Death (TV story)"], immediately followed by a repeat of Talking Doctor Who.
