Story notes

  • This episode was incorrectly entitled Cyber War and Enemies of a Time Lord.
  • In a released clip by the Doctor Who website Rory quoted the Doctor as saying that "The universe was huge and ridiculous and sometimes there were miracles" and added "I can deal with a miracle right now" to a seemingly dead Amy.
  • Many old enemies have been confirmed to appear in the episode, whether there to play an enemy part is still to be confirmed. The list of enemies include the Daleks, the Cybus Cybermen, the Sontarans, the Judoon, the Slitheen, the Hoix, the Weevils, the Uvodni, the Sycorax, the Silurians, the Autons, the Roboform, the Blowfish, the Drahvins, the Chelonians, the Zygons, the Draconians and the Terileptils [8]
  • Amy Pond's mother will appear, played by actress Karen Westwood[9]. Her Aunt Sharon will also appear, played by Susan Vidler.
  • The title is most likely a reference to the TARDIS's explosion on 26/06/2010. (DW: Flesh and Stone)
  • Both the date of the in-universe 'unidentified explosion' and the real-world date of broadcast is also 26/06/2010.
  • A Stone Dalek will appear in a museum. The Pandorica and the Stone Dalek will appear in the museum that Amelia visits. The Dalek is Stone after being stored for 1900 years.

Rumours

  • Some fans speculate that the unknown, sinister voice heard in the previous episode was, in fact, Omega. Some others have speculated that it's a greater plan by Rassilon, now regenerated after The End of Time to destroy the Universe and elevate the Time Lords beyond the physical laws of "Time, Cause and effect".
  • Another speculation that Omega may appear is that along with the symbols in the grass supposivly being land marks could also be a symbol of a letter, which would be the letter O.
  • The Slitheen will return. They didn't appear in the former episode, but were mentioned, they might appear in The Big Bang.
  • The Zygons will return. They didn't appear in the former episode, but were mentioned, they might appear in The Big Bang.
  • Many fans have speculated that during this episode, the Doctor will travel back along his own time stream to the events earlier in Series 5. Publicity photos showing the Doctor with the younger Amelia Pond (as played by Caitlin Blackwood) in undisclosed locations suggest this. Additionally, the presence of the Time Cracks threaded throughout both the Doctor and Amy's personal timelines, which allowed both Prisoner Zero and the Calvierris to (albeit randomly) cross vast distances of time and space, suggests he may use them to his advantage. This would jibe well with theories regarding The Eleventh Hour and Flesh and Stone containing scenes of a "future" Doctor.
  • As most of the enemies listed and seen in The Pandorica Opens should have been defeated or should have not existed during 102 A.D (For example the Silurians, that should be under the earth), it is rumoured that something must have brought them all to the same time zone and place in order for all of them to join up together. The Daleks have already shown that they can use Time Corridors. They may have used this to help the Alliance to travel to this timezone DW: Resurrection of the Daleks. They were also capable of time travel technology. DW: The Chase
  • It was confirmed in an interview that the "big bad" behind it all was in the first episode (The Eleventh Hour), but not in the most "conventional" form. http://www.newsarama.com/tv/Doctor-Who-Paley-Center-100415.html It is thought that the issue of who is really is behind it all (the cracks in time, the external force in the TARDIS, ect.) will be solved in this episode, or as rumours say, will make a cameo.
  • As noticed in timelord50.blogspot.com/2010/06/did-you-notice.html. Several shots of Amy's house from DW:The Eleventh Hour, which shows, that the outside of the house has 2 storeys, but there are 2 sets of stairs. Similar to DW:The Lodger. This could mean a second perception filter. Which could be reveal something else hidden, during this episode.
