George V was the king of the United Kingdom who succeeded his father Edward VII. Following his death in 1936, George V was succeeded by his eldest son Edward VIII, who reigned briefly until he was succeeded by his younger brother George VI. In 1881, when George was a prince, he visited Australia on a ship manned by Captain Thorpe. The Twelfth Doctor landed on the ship to observe the Flying Dutchman. After the Dutchman disappeared, the Doctor went back into his TARDIS and was followed by George and Thorpe. The Doctor took them to an oil rig off the Gulf of Mexico in 2068, where they saw the Flying Dutchman once again. They then went to the Battle of Trafalgar, where they were able to jump onto the Dutchman. They were attacked by robot pirates. George messed with the controls of the Dutchman, sending them to the coast of Africa in 1641. The Doctor showed the robots that they weren't the original crew of the Dutchman and took control of the ship. He then took George and Thorpe back to their proper time and place. When the Tenth Doctor found that Edward VII had disappeared along with Balmoral Castle in 1902, he warned that the future of the royal family, along with the rest of history, was threatened as there would be no George V nor any of his successors. (PROSE: Revenge of the Judoon)

In 1953, a post box with the initials "G R" was located on Florizel Street. In a simulated version of World War I, the War Lord Smythe had an office while posing as a British Army general. Included in this office was a portrait of George V, behind which was hidden a communicator screen. (TV: The War Games [+]Loading...["The War Games (TV story)"])
