The post-war London of 1948 is rebuilding, the people are recovering, and Ben and Polly have arrived with an old friend with a new face. But they're not the only visitors. A very different kind of war is being fought, in a department store, and they are in the middle of it...

Polly lived in Hampshire when she was a child.
Polly had a Golden Retriever named Belle.
In 1948, the six-year-old Polly visited Henrik's with her mother. While there, she saw tinned baked beans for the first time and lost her beloved teddy bear.

Penelope Faith stated in an interview in DWM 500 that her inspiration for this story came from this line on Polly Wright's page on the Tardis Data Core: "In 1948, when Polly was six, she was separated from her mother on a shopping trip to Fortnum & Mason.", referencing PROSE: Invasion of the Cat-People.
