Parkes was a country town in New South Wales, Australia. According to Chick Peters' father, it and Forbes were exactly eleven miles apart. When Chick was a child, his family would stay at a caravan park at one of these two towns (he could not remember which), and would drive from one town to the other, stopping in Orange. Location information
Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map to the right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of Parkes.
