Rhinoceros

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Rhinoceros

Rhinoceroses, often abbreviated as rhinos, were large, heavy-built mammals of Earth that had thick folded skin and a pair of horns on their nose. Rhinoceroses were considered an endangered species by the 20th century, with people in 1966 believing they would be completely extinct by the year 2000. (PROSE: The Rhino of Twenty-Three Strand Street) Indeed, by the year 2479, rhinoceroses were long extinct. (PROSE: Judgement of the Judoon) There existed at least one subspecies, the black rhinoceros, which came from the African continent. (PROSE: The Last Dodo)

The First Doctor, Ben Jackson and Polly Wright chased by a wooly rhino. (COMIC: Who Was 'Ere!)

Wooly rhinoceroses were a breed of rhinocerores from the Ice Age. A cave painting found in Norwich and dated as "at least 300 00⅓ years old" depicted the First Doctor and his companions Ben Jackson and Polly Wright running in terror from such an animal. (COMIC: Who Was 'Ere!)
