Biology[[edit] | [edit source]]
Triceratops was a large herbivorous quadruped dinosaur. Weighing as much as 12 tonnes, it was native to the Cretaceous period. Triceratops was most famous for its broad crest, beaked mouth, and triple horns. The massive creature used its horns and crest primarily for mating displays, but they also served as potent defensive weapons, making life very difficult for potential predators like Tyrannosaurus Rex. Like the modern rhinoceros, Triceratops did not hesitate to charge when confronted with danger.
Triceratops were mostly found roaming the plains that would later be North America and Canada. The creature was highly protective of its young, and attacked any potential threat until convinced it was dead. (PROSE: Prehistory Repeating Itself [+]Loading...["Prehistory Repeating Itself (feature)"])

Triceratops was among the species placed aboard the Silurian Ark to repopulate the Earth with after the catastrophe the Silurians incorrectly predicted had passed. In the 24th century, when the Eleventh Doctor and his companions came aboard the Ark, they used a Triceratops, nicknamed Tricey as a mount. Solomon later had the Triceratops killed to make an example out of it.
Another Triceratops was on Brian's postcard's picture of Siluria, indicating that the Ark had other Triceratops besides Tricey which were taken to Siluria by the Eleventh Doctor after he stopped the Ark from returning to Earth. (TV: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship)

The planet Skaro was also home to creatures that resembled dinosaurs, specifically the Triceratops, but with only one horn. Normally peaceful herbivores, they would attack Daleks on sight. The Third Doctor and Finney used a herd of these to destroy a group of Daleks that had taken them to Skaro. (COMIC: The Planet of the Daleks)
The Triceratops was also native to the planet Raxas, and along with the other Raxas dinosaurs, proved to be more than a match for a Dalek attack. (PROSE: The Battle for Raxas)
