Francois de Noailles

Francois de Noailles was the Bishop of Dax and the brother of the French ambassador to England. Although a Catholic, he secretly supported Reverend Thomas Smith's plot to remove Queen Mary I from power in 1555, believing that having Elizabeth I on the throne would mean England allying with France instead of Spain.
