Davros, originally the head of the Kaled Scientific Elite on the planet Skaro, presided over the creation of the Daleks. During the Imperial-Renegade Dalek Civil War, he served as Emperor of the Imperial faction and later of the Dalek race itself.

Early life

It was a time when mercy and nobility were all but non-existent and life was harsh and grim. The use of atomic weapons and other agents of mutation had started to produce mutants known as mutos.
As a child Davros claimed only his mother believed in him. Others feared him and his determination. His father wanted him to become a soldier like his elder generations. Davros was determined to become a scientist. (BFD: Innocence)
Davros had a sister called Yarvell. Davros disagreed with her ideas of a compromise with the Thals. Davros was forced into the military where he was put in charge of developing new weapons. After his mother killed his father, sister and aunt, Davros no longer had anyone that he could impress. In honour of Yarvell's death he and his mother commissioned a statue to be made to house her ashes. (BFD: Purity)
Davros began experimenting with organisms and teaching them to speak. In particular the word 'Davros.' For his first experiment he used a Thal brain instead of a Kaled one. (BFA: Guilt)

Ash Ketchum (Japanese: サトシ Satoshi) is the main character of both the Pokémon anime and the manga The Electric Tale of Pikachu. His Japanese voice actress is 松本梨香 Rica Matsumoto, his English voice actresses are Veronica Taylor (4Kids Entertainment dub) and Sarah Natochenny (Pokémon USA dub), his Brazilian voice actor is Fábio Lucindo, his Italian voice actor is Davide Garbolino, and his Spanish voice actors are Adolfo Moreno (Spain) and Gabriel Ramos (Latin America). In the first dub of The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon he was voiced by Jamie Peacock.
Ash is apparently based on the main character of Pokémon Red and Blue Versions, Template:Ga. He shares his name with the creator of the Pokémon franchise, Satoshi Tajiri. His Japanese name can be taken to mean "wisdom" or "reason" (智), and his English name has many meanings. His English last name is a pun on the original English Pokémon motto, "Gotta Catch 'em All!". As for his first name, some note that "Ash" has the same letters found in Satoshi.
In the anime
Character
Ash's main goal in life, as described in the first episode, Pokémon - I Choose You!, is to be the world's greatest Pokémon Master. Ash began his journey at the age of 10 as a warm-hearted and well-intentioned but stubborn and unskilled Pokémon Trainer. He was forced to accept the irreverent Template:AP from Professor Oak as his starter Pokémon because he carelessly broke his alarm clock and woke up late on the day he was set to get his first Pokémon. He was determined to achieve his goal, however, and when he showed his willingness to give up his own safety to keep Pikachu safe, he formed a strong bond of friendship with his Pokémon which would set his course for the future.
However, from that point, Ash still had a lot to learn about becoming a Trainer. He caught his first Pokémon by luck, knew nothing about battling, and showed a reluctance to admit when he was wrong. Many of his first Gym badges were given to him out of pity or gratitude for his assistance rather than claiming a victory in battle over the Gym Leaders. Every time he thought he was doing well, he would somehow cross paths with his childhood rival, Gary Oak, who always reminded Ash that he was always a step or seven behind.
Ash's dedication to his goal paid off over time, and after earning his first eight badges, he competed in the Indigo League, and advanced further in the rounds than Gary. After recovering from his defeat, he continued on to improve his skill, take on new challenges, and compete in more Pokémon League competitions.
Ash has changed a great deal over the course of the series, particularly in regards to his skill at Pokémon training, but his earnestness and determination have remained. Never straying from his goal, he has remained loyal to his friends, his family, and his supporters, but most of all his Pokémon. Ash became a great Trainer by learning to find and use the inner strength of each of his Pokémon by bonding with them and learning where their hidden abilities lie, as well as resorting to unorthodox strategies when fighting particularly challenging opponents. For example, he uses his Pikachu's speed to outmaneuver larger foes and attack, and defeated Gary's Blastoise with his Template:AP by causing the field to overheat and have Charizard mount a close-range attack while Blastoise was blinded by the steam.
Additionally, during the first season of the series, while Ash originally trained not to further himself but instead to catch more Pokémon than his rival, Gary, he later slowed his pace which allowed him to focus on the individual traits of each Pokémon. At the Johto League Silver Conference, with great humility and maturity, Ash finally won a battle against his old rival, signifying a great milestone in his history. His maturity has also increased in his dealings with Pokémon, as when a Mankey stole his hat in Primeape Goes Bananas, he screamed and yelled at it, even climbing trees just to get his hat back, but when an Aipom did the same in Slaking Kong, he stated merely that he would feel strange without a hat.
In nearly every episode of the anime, Ash befriends someone who will influence him and cause him to strive to become a better Trainer. Although he is not a dependent individual, he is still young and has learned to make his way relying on his Template:AP, particularly the maternal skills of Brock. The honor of "best friend" is usually reserved for Pikachu but Ash has come to see his closest human friends in the same light over time; using the term for Misty in Gotta Catch Ya Later as well as Brock, Template:An and Max in Battling the Enemy Within.
He has traversed much of the Pokémon world and has thus far participated in four Pokémon League regional competitions, but he is still learning new things about Pokémon all the time.
Ash apparently has a close connection with Legendary Pokémon, especially Template:P, Template:P, and Template:P. In the English dub of the second movie, he was revealed to be "The Chosen One" - the one who would bring balance back to the world. Although viewed as a normal human, Ash does have some special abilities as he is said to have the same aura as Sir Aaron, a legendary hero, and is theoretically able to manipulate it in much the same way. However, he has not received any training in this field, opting to continue his Pokémon journey instead. He has also been likened to an ancient aura guardian in The Keystone Pops!, who also had a partner Template:P. Later, in DP071 and DP072, Ash uses aura again to locate a lost Riolu and read Riolu's mind as well. However, these were one time deals, as Riolu had an unnaturally powerful aura.
He has a Contest Pass for the Sinnoh region, though he has stated that the contest he got it for was the only one he intends on entering. He also has one for the Hoenn region as it was required to watch one of the contests held there. Ash also carries around a broken Poké Ball, of which the other half belongs to Gary and is a symbol of their ongoing, but now friendly, rivalry, as well as Misty's special lure, which she sent to him as a gift, and also half of a ribbon he received in a contest against May before she left the group to compete in Johto.
Family
Ash lived with his mother, Delia Ketchum, until he left for his Pokémon journey at the age of ten.
His father is never introduced. The anime suggests that his father was once a Pokémon Trainer, but it is unclear whether he is still living. There has been much discussion in the fandom as to the identity of Ash's father, though the writers have chosen to not focus on this aspect of Ash's life. Common characters put forward by fans for the role are Giovanni, Professor Oak and Template:An. In Pokémon Live!, Delia told Ash that Giovanni had once been her boyfriend, and that he was Ash's father. However, this has never been officially acknowledged.
Ash is an only child, breaking from the tradition of several other main characters, with the exception of Template:An and possibly Template:Tracey, whose siblings are often a foil or focal point in their lives.

In the manga
Template:Mangastub The manga version of Ash Ketchum is based on the anime version, but there are many differences after both versions took different directions. For example, while anime Ash is indifferent to romance or members of the opposite gender (or same gender, some may argue), manga Ash has a big crush on Gary's sister, May Oak. He's also prone to quickly falling in love like Brock, but to a much less extreme degree.

Trivia
- In the ninth episode Ash mentioned that he had been a Pokémon trainer for 2 months. This time frame is further reinforced when Ash learns that the Pokémon League will begin in two months when he returns to Pallet Town after earning his eighth badge - he arrives at Indigo Stadium nine episodes later. If time continued at this rate, he would be at least 20 years old in the latest Japanese episode, something that's implied strongly by Template:MTR in Two Degrees of Separation!. However, given that some episodes take place directly after each other, this time frame is clearly not consistent.
- Ash has been mistaken to be the son of two women from Kanto and the Orange Islands. The first time was in Hypno's Naptime where he was mistaken for a boy named Arnold, while the second was in Pokémon Double Trouble when Luana mistook him for her son Travis.
- Ash has caught 48 different kinds of Pokémon, including evolutions and counting Larvitar, Seaking, Beedrill, Haunter, and Raticate, even though Larvitar and Haunter were not officially his, Beedrill was given away nearly immediately, and Seaking was released as part of contest rules. The original tagline for the dub was "Gotta Catch 'em All!", but Ash has only caught 9.74% of the current number of Pokémon. This line was eventually dropped in 2003, when he only had 8.03% of the then total of 386.
- Ash has caught or received 63 different individual Pokémon, 30 of which are his Tauros.
- Other than Template:AP, his many Template:AP, and Template:TP, Ash has never caught a Pokémon when his party had six members.
- Ash's first choice of a starter was Squirtle. Later, it is revealed that Gary was the one who, in fact, chose Squirtle. Ash's second choice was Bulbasaur, while his third was Charmander.
- So far, every time Ash becomes the champion of something, he then battles and gets defeated by Gary a few episodes later, before heading off to a new region. This has happened after his championing of the Orange League and the Battle Frontier, which were both "filler seasons" before the start of even-numbered generations.
- In EP241, Ash was transformed into a Template:P. This transformed state is sometimes referred to as Ashachu.
- Ash has captured each generation's Template:Type2 starter Pokémon (Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, Turtwig).
- In both the Kanto and Johto story arcs, Ash managed to capture all three of the starter Pokémon for both regions. This trend was broken in the Advanced Generation series, where he only captured Template:AP, while the other two were Template:OP and Template:OP. However, it is possible that the trend will be reestablished in the Diamond & Pearl series story arc, as Ash has already managed to capture both a Template:AP and Template:AP, two of the Sinnoh region's starter Pokémon. This is unlikely, however, as Template:An already has the third, Template:TP.
- However, he did command Piplup during A-Maze-ing Race!, and Chimchar during its last few minutes on Paul's team.
- Ash has captured one Template:Type2 Pokémon from each series region that players can encounter early in different games: Template:AP, Template:AP, Template:AP, and Template:AP.
- In each region (except for the Orange Islands), Ash always loses against at least one of the Gym Leaders before challenging them to a rematch.
- With the exception of Koga, Ash had to either do some sort of heroic deed or re-challenge all of the Kanto Gym Leaders to earn his badge. This, however, never applied to his Earth Badge, as he never battled against Giovanni himself, instead challenging the Team Rocket trio that had constantly followed him.
- So far, Ash always befriends someone shortly before the regional tournament. That person will beat Ash later on in the semifinals.
- Though not as touched on anymore, a running gag in the English version of the series involved his mother making sure that Ash changed his underwear every single day.
- A pattern has developed among Ash's Template:T starters: Template:AP never evolved, Chikorita evolved once and Treecko evolved twice. Many believe Ash's Turtwig won't evolve so the pattern continues.
- Ash's room, seen at the start of the first episode, contains a lot of merchandise based off various Pokémon, including a bedspread with a Poké Ball pattern, a trash can with a Template:P on it, a big Template:P doll, a Template:P pencil sharpener, a Template:P bank, a Template:P mobile, a poster with Template:P, Template:P and Template:P, and a Template:P alarm clock with a Template:P inside it which he breaks in his sleep. He also has many books, a globe, a boombox, a television and a Bug Catcher's net. Based on the slanting of the ceiling of his room, it is probably in the attic of his house.
- During his adventures in Kanto, Johto and the Orange Islands, Ash pinned his badges to the inside of his jacket. From Hoenn onwards, they have been kept in some form of case. It is unknown where the badges of Ash's previous journeys are, though it is assumed that they are kept somewhere in his house. Delia placed Ash's trophy from the Orange Islands on top of the television, though this was missing when Ash looked in his living room in Home is Where the Start Is. Interestingly, the scene following it showed an identical trophy placed in Professor Oak's lab.
- Each time Ash successfully wins his eighth badge, all eight are stolen, though soon after returned. It is unknown if this will happen again in the Diamond & Pearl series.
- The most badges Ash has ever gotten in the first thirty-five episodes were six badges in Kanto, which makes sense considering that Kanto was significantly shorter than any other saga (aside from the Orange Island saga and the Battle Frontier saga). In every other region thus far, he has only won two badges in the first thirty-five episodes.
- The only girl Ash has even shown a confirmed interest is named Giselle whom appeared in The School of Hard Knocks.
- The only Template:Type2 starter Ash has not owned is Template:P.
- Ash is the only Template:Ashfr that has caught a Template:Shiny2 Pokémon, which is his Template:AP.
- Ash has two rivals that started off with turtle-like Pokémon. Gary started with Squirtle and Paul started off with Turtwig.
- Ash also has two female friends that started off with bird-like Pokémon. May started off with Torchic and Dawn started off with Template:TP.
- The characters of the anime that share Ash's voice actress, both in English and in Japanese, are usually female or Pokémon.
- In the case of Ash's Fire-type Pokémon, he always somehow saves them before capturing them, either from an abusive trainer or from other Pokémon.
- Because Ash began wearing his AG clothes before leaving for Hoenn and did not change into his DP clothes until after he arrived in Sinnoh, Ash wore the AG clothes during episodes from all three series.
- Ash has crossdressed once in each anime series: Pokémon Scent-sation! was the first time, in the original series, Love at First Flight was the second, in the Template:Series, and Tanks for the Memories! was the third, in the Template:Series. Each time Ash has crossdressed, he was never willing to do so and was coerced or forced into it in some fashion.
- In addition to dressing as a girl, Ash has dressed up as fruit on at least two occasions. The first time, he dressed as an apple in Pokémon Food Fight! while the second he dressed as an eggplant in Claydol Big and Tall. On both occasions he was used to lure a large Pokémon.
- Ash has also had to dress up on numerous occasions as actual Pokémon to help out the characters of the day. He has so far been a Mr. Mime in It's Mr. Mime Time, as an Octillery in Octillery the Outcast and as a Seviper in Zig Zag Zangoose!.
- Ash has owned four Pokémon that have also been owned by Gym Leaders. Falkner (Template:AP), Flannery (Template:AP), Winona (Template:AP), and Gardenia (Template:AP). Coincidently, all of them either have bird or turtle-like Pokémon. Other Gym Leaders have owned Pokémon that happened to be either the evolved form or pre-evolved form of one of Ash's Pokémon. Lt. Surge's Raichu (Template:AP), Cissy's Template:P (Template:AP), Falkner's Template:P (Template:AP), Bugsy's Template:P (Template:AP), and Crasher Wake's Template:P (Template:AP).
- A related coincidence is that three of the four female Gym Leaders listed above, own a turtle/tortoise-like Pokémon.
- Ash last released a Pokémon during the original series. Since its end, he has been leaving his Pokémon at Professor Oak's lab often, a habit he got from Misty.
- All of Ash's primate-based Pokémon have been owned by two Trainers - Paul previously owned Template:AP, Template:Ka currently owns Template:AP, and Dawn currently owns Aipom which later evolved into Template:TP.
- All of Ash's Pokémon that have evolved twice (Template:AP, Template:AP and Template:AP) also have cross-generation counterparts on Template:An's team (Template:TP, Template:TP, and Template:TP, respectively).
- Ash has the most Pokémon that know moves that they can't learn in the games: Caterpie with Template:M, Template:AP with Template:M, Template:AP with Template:M (debatable), Template:M, and Template:M, Template:AP with Template:M, Template:AP with Template:M, and Template:AP with Template:M.
- Although Ash is the main character of the Pokémon anime, he has never been featured on an English TCG card.
- Ash has three turtle-like, unevolved Pokémon: Squirtle, Torkoal and Turtwig. Each corresponds to one of the three elemental types of the starter Pokémon, though Torkoal isn't a starter itself.
- Despite having two Soothe Bells, Ash has yet to capture any Pokémon that evolve through happiness, while both Brock and Dawn have Pokémon on their team that undergo happiness evolutions at some stage (Template:TP and Template:TP).
- Ash has owned at least one Pokémon of each type except Template:T, Template:T, Template:T, and Template:T.
- Discounting Koga, who was a Gym Leader at the time of Ash's battle against him, Ash has so far battled three Elite Four members, namely Prima, Drake and Agatha, losing to all three. He has met all four of Generation I Kanto's Elite Four, two of Generation II's, one of Hoenn's, and one of Sinnoh's. He has also met all five in-game champions (or their anime counterparts, at least).
- It is interesting to note that Ash's Template:Series outfit looks much like Template:Ga's. The biggest difference between the two is the fact that Lucas wears a scarf, and that Ash retains the Template:Wp style for his hat, while Lucas's is a Template:Wp.
- Four of Ash's Pokémon have been introduced to moves by someone else: Template:AP and Template:M, Template:AP and Template:M, Template:AP and Template:M, and Template:AP and Template:M. Of these, three are TM moves in the games.
- Three of Ash's Pokémon were caught by him after first premiering in Pokémon movies: Template:AP (Mewtwo Strikes Back), Template:AP (Spell of the Unown) and Template:AP (Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea).
- Strangely, both Donphan and Aipom are and were both used in battle against him by an opponent during the opening credits of the movies.
- Altogether, if the movies are considered to be canon, Ash has seen at least twenty-seven different species of legendary Pokémon, and at least ten of them multiple times.
- Seven of Ash's Pokémon decided to join him without battling him (Gligar, Chimchar, Lapras, Chikorita, Charmander, Squirtle, and Torkoal), while another five accepted a challenge against them and were subsequently captured (Turtwig, Treecko, Bulbasaur, Snorunt and Aipom). All of the others he naturally encountered and captured.

"Death" and revival

The Daleks eventually turned on Nyder and exterminated him. Later, they apparently exterminated Davros himself (DW: Genesis of the Daleks), but he had in fact activated a force field around his travel unit and survived in a form of suspended animation while his life support worked to regenerate him. After an unknown period of time had passed, Davros was sought both by the Daleks, now a major galactic power, and by the Doctor. The Daleks sought to revive Davros so that he might offer them a way out of their impasse in their war with the Movellans. Davros' suspended body was found in the underground remains of the crumbled scientific elite bunker, and was revived. Davros opted to help the Daleks in their war against the Movellans. He devised a plan to destroy a Movellan ship but after this failed he was captured by the Doctor and escaped Dalek slaves and imprisoned in a block of ice. (DW: Destiny of the Daleks)

I have waited a long time for this. Once the Doctor is exterminated, I shall build a new race of Daleks. They will be even more deadly and I, Davros, shall be their leader! This time we shall triumph. My Daleks shall once more become the supreme beings!
The Humans decreed an indefinite sentence of suspended animation, during which time Davros retained full consciousness. After 90 years, the Daleks, led by the Dalek Supreme, liberated Davros from his prison ship in space, and revived him once more. They believed that he might help them to find a cure for the virus with which the Movellans defeated them: a virus that attacks only Dalek tissue. Under the pretense of discovering the cure, Davros began experimenting on Daleks to bring them under his control. The Doctor, now in a new incarnation, attempted to kill Davros during this time, though he ultimately lacked the resolve to do so directly. His treachery discovered by the Dalek Supreme, Davros released the Movellan virus onto the prison ship, effectively killing all the Daleks on board. The virus then began affecting Davros, who promptly fled in an escape pod before Stien caused the station -- and the prison ship -- to explode. (DW: Resurrection of the Daleks)

Davros, however, survived, and set himself up as "The Great Healer" on the planet Necros and lured the Doctor there. Using the bodies of the dead at Tranquil Repose, Davros created a new race of Daleks with white and gold livery, who would later be called "Imperial Daleks". The new faction was totally loyal to him. The Supreme Dalek's forces arrived on Necros -- having been brought there by Tranquil Repose's disgruntled staff -- and captured him to put him on trial. (DW: Revelation of the Daleks)

By the time of his attempt to recover the Hand of Omega from 1963 Earth he called himself the Dalek Emperor (of the Imperial Daleks only). Apparently, he had lost most of his organic body, and was completely encased within an Imperial Dalek-like shell, though his head and upper body still appeared to be at least partially Kaled. (DW: Remembrance of the Daleks) Apparently killed by a supernova started by the Hand of Omega, he survived by escaping in an escape pod (again).
Davros found himself teetering on the edge of sanity when he encountered the Eighth Doctor on Earth, which he had taken over with a virus. At this time, Davros's Dalek personality was very nearly dominant. At the end of the story, Davros becomes the Emperor of the Daleks, his mind fully turned into Dalek. Presumably he may have been encased in the Emperor Dalek casing in "The Evil Of The Daleks" and the explosions resulting from the Dalek Civil War restored his "Davros" personality, however this is only speculation. Davros now back to his original form which enabled him to participate in the Last Great Time War. (BFA: Terror Firma)
After this, Davros went on to be the commander of the Daleks in the Time War, only to supposedly die during the first year of the conflict (despite the Doctor's efforts to save him) at the Gate of Elysium, when his command ship flew into the jaws of the Nightmare Child. However, Dalek Caan broke the War's time lock and saved him from death. Davros then rebuilt the Dalek race by using a large number of his own cells, turning each one into a new Dalek, leaving his internal organs and skeleton exposed (under his jacket). Davros called these Daleks his "children". (DW: The Stolen Earth)

Welcome... to my new empire, Doctor.
After Davros was rescued by Dalek Caan and had finished creating his new army of Daleks, he used a planet sized ship known as the Crucible to travel the universe and "steal" planets. These planets were then put around the Crucible. Earth was the final planet to be taken by Davros and his New Daleks. They took the planets to the Medusa Cascade where he and his Daleks awaited the arrival of the Doctor in a pocket of time 1 second out of sync with the rest of the universe. Davros used advanced technology to hack into the wavelengths of the Subwave Network and talk to the Doctor, explaining to his nemesis how he had survived. (DW: The Stolen Earth)
It quickly became apparent that Davros had once again become a slave to the Daleks rule who placed him under guard within the Vault on the Crucible as part of a deal he made with the Supreme One.(If Davros was indeed a slave, it is puzzling as to why there was a terminal in his prison (the Vault) which could be used to control every aspect of the Daleks travel machines and the Crucible, especially as it did appear to be operational by Dalek implements. This was used by Donna and the Doctor to destroy the Daleks). This arrangement required Davros to build a Reality bomb powered by the Crucible and the 27 planets in the Medusa Cascade which would destroy all of existence leaving the Daleks the sole inhabitants of the universe. However, his plan failed due to the intervention of the Doctor and Donna Noble who destroyed the Dalek race once more leaving Davros on a burning Crucible. Before leaving in the TARDIS, the Doctor offered to save Davros but the creator of the Daleks refused stating that he named the Doctor the destroyer of worlds, after which he was apparentley engulfed in flames.
Creations
Supreme Dalek? Ha! That is a title I shall dispute most vigorously, I created the Daleks. It is I who shall control their destiny, I am the Supreme Commander!
Most notable of Davros' creations is the Mark III travel machine, which then became known as a Dalek. Davros also experimented with other Dalek forms, such as a Dalek able to walk over rough terrain known as a Spider Dalek. (EDA: War of the Daleks)
Davros also created an Imperial faction of Daleks to counter what he saw as a Renegade faction of Daleks, as well as the cybernetic Juggernauts by combining Human components and DNA with the robotic Mechanoids. (BFA: The Juggernauts)
Personality
Yes... yes. To hold in my hand a capsule that contained such power... to know that life and death on such a scale was my choice. To know that the tiny pressure on my thumb, enough to break the glass, would end everything. Yes - I would do it. That power would set me up above the gods! And through the Daleks, I shall have that power!
Davros had a sound mind early in his life. Brilliant and driven, he relentlessly experimented to find the final form of the Kaled people. Davros was a cool and sadistic person; it was his ability to command and delegate that was most forceful and cold. While his conversation with the Doctor following his awakening (DW: Destiny of the Daleks) suggests that he may have survived the extermination attempt through forethought, it does still seem to have made Davros more bitter than he had originally been.
Physical characteristics
Davros was originally seen by the Doctor sitting upright in a movement and life support chair resembling the base of a Dalek. His Kaled body was similar to that of a human, though a blue eye in his forehead replaced his lost vision, allowing him some semblance of sight. He had only his right hand, which he used to operate various controls on his chair. These in turn could perform various functions from controlling doors, the Mark III travel machines, to his own life support system.
On Necros, Bostock fired a gun which destroyed most of his right hand and thus his independent operability. (DW: Revelation of the Daleks) For a short time after, his hand was replaced with a claw (DWM: Emperor of the Daleks) and finally replaced with a prosthetic substitute of future human design (BFA: The Juggernauts), (though its first appearance on screen was in DW: The Stolen Earth) He was capable of firing electric shocks from his mechanical hands allowing him to ward off attackers and stun them. Behind the Scenes
Michael Wisher (who had previously played the voice of the Daleks in several Third Doctor stories) portrayed Davros (as well as provided the Daleks' voices) in his debut story Genesis of the Daleks. The creator of the Daleks and of Davros, Terry Nation, intended to imply that Davros had not actually died during that story by showing Davros' life support button still working, a detail not actually shown in the filmed story. When Davros returned in Destiny of the Daleks, Wisher could not play the part, so David Gooderson was cast in the role. Subsequently, Terry Molloy, who first appeared in Davros' third story, Resurrection of the Daleks, has played the role on television and audio more times than any other actor.
Davros appeared in a one-off fan-produced stage play, The Trial of Davros, with Michael Wisher. The second version of the play starred Terry Molloy and Peter Miles reprising his role as Davros' henchman Nyder.
Davros appeared on stage at the Doctor Who Prom. Once again he was played by Julian Bleach and welcomed the Prommers to his Dalek Empire and claiming the Royal Albert Hall as his new palace and asking a Dalek if the conductor had been conditioned to play only Dalek music.
It is believed by Russell T Davies that he survived, perhaps using an emergency temporal shift or yet another escape pod. (DW: Journey's End) It is in fact rumoured that Sarah Jane has nightmares about him in the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. If confirmed, this could foreshadow his survival and return in future.
