On 15 February, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:
- 1971 - Decimialisation occurs in the United Kingdom. Production paperwork naturally reflects this changeover, with budgets and other documents converting to new pence. Cover prices on Doctor Who related merchandise, such as Doctor Who annuals and toys appeared to have radically different price points from this point forward, even though the initial changeover kept the value of money stable. Countdown #1 — which was the new home for Third Doctor comic stories – published a few days later, becoming the first Doctor Who-related magazine to be sold entirely in new pence.
