On 22 August, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:
- 1963 - Verity Lambert told James Bould that the fourth serial of season 1 would perhaps be one in which the regulars were drastically reduced in height. She therefore requested designer George Djurkovic's services, as he had some recent experienced with advanced filming techniques. Ultimately, however, she neither got Djurkovic's services or the miniaturisation story — later called Planet of Giants — made as the fourth story of season 1. Djurkovic in fact never worked on Doctor Who at all, but he did have a long career in film design. He went on to work in the art departments of several important productions like Raiders of the Lost Ark.
