Witch Finder General William Redcliffe was a 16th century Englishman. He was in service with Francis Walsingham.
He was using the anti-Catholic climate and uncertainty about the war with Spain to gain favour with Elizabeth I. However, Redcliffe sacrificed himself to save the Fourth Doctor and Leela from the Vituperon. (AUDIO: The Devil's Armada)
