What's the true noun form here: punch or punching? And do we need to distinguish this from the fruity drinks?

Punching or to punch was the act of physically striking someone or something with a hand rolled up into a fist. (TV: Thin Ice) He also previously punched the General in the face to gain his sidearm. (TV: Hell Bent) This Doctor punched his TARDIS console several times, (TV: Dark Water) as well as a wall made of byzantium, in order to get to the other side. (TV: Heaven Sent)

Rory Williams punched in the face and knocked out Adolf Hitler before he, the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond hid him in a cupboard. He also knocked down the Teselecta with a punch to the face as well. (TV: Let's Kill Hitler) Rory even hit the Doctor when he insulted Amy, albeit out of a need to assert Rory's feelings for her were genuine. Jack Harkness punched several security guards in the face while breaking out of prison with the Ninth Doctor. (TV: Bad Wolf) Rhys Williams and Gwen Cooper also punched him to the floor on two separate occasions. Gwen also punched a woman in the face when they jeopardised Jack's life. (TV: Rendition) Jack also punched Angelo Colasanto in an act of self-defence. (TV: Immortal Sins) Jack also punched fellow Time Agent John Hart several times, and was punched himself, in their brief sparring match in Wales. (TV: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang) Owen Harper punched several men, and was hit himself, in the face when fighting them off in a bar.
