Personaility

Why dosen't this article say something about Peri's personaility? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Doctor 25 (talk • contribs) .

Page name

Just as Mel's page is at "Melanie Bush", shouldn't this page be moved to "Perpugilliam Brown"? As far as I'm aware, Peri's full name was given only twice - in Planet of Fire and Vengeance on Varos - both times being called "Perpugilliam Brown" rather than "Peri Brown", which she doesn't seem to have ever been called on the show. -- Saxon (✉️) 18:48, August 13, 2019 (UTC)

She was also called this in The Caves of Androzani, The Mark of the Rani and The Mysterious Planet. [EDIT: and The Ultimate Foe] Again, she has never been called "Peri Brown" onscreen. -- Saxon (✉️) 21:33, August 13, 2019 (UTC)

Rename tag

Removed the rename tag, as its claim is based solely on television stories. There are multiple prose stories where she is called "Peri". In addition, she is credited as "Peri", and she is mostly known to fans as "Peri". Shambala108 01:38, August 25, 2019 (UTC)

Could you provide some examples of media that explicitly calls her "Peri Brown"? Mel is known to fans as "Mel" rather than "Melanie" but her page is named that because she is referred to as "Melanie Bush" just as, in the show, Peri is "Perpugilliam Brown". Similarly, we have "Charlotte Pollard" despite being known to fans as "Charley" and "Wilfred Mott" despite being known as "Wilf". -- Saxon (✉️) 21:28, August 25, 2019 (UTC)
First of all, removing of delete/rename/merge tags is an admin job, and if an admin performs one of these tasks, you must not undo the action. Ask the admin if you're unsure of the reasons, but never re-add it or you risk running afoul of Tardis:Do not disrupt this wiki to prove a point.
I'm not sure why you think the longer version of the name is what she's most known by. She is occasionally called by the full name by the Doctor, but mostly by the shorter name (including by the narration in prose stories).
Sometimes a rename doesn't need discussion if an admin thinks it's not necessary. This page has been on the wiki for over ten years, as have the others you mentioned, and they have thousands of pages linking to them. There's no reason to move any of these unless something else comes up in the future (given the way the DWU writers work, anything is possible).
Interestingly the original edit summary is as follows: "Since she was usually referred as "Peri," I think the original article at Perpugilliam Brown should be moved here [to Peri Brown]."
To make things easier, I'll sum up the other ones you mentioned here, instead of having to leave messages on three other talk pages. Charlotte Pollard has a redirect at Charley Pollard; no rename necessary. Melanie Bush has a redirect at Mel Bush; no rename necessary. Wilfred Mott, not really necessary but you could argue for a redirect, which I don't think exists right now.
To sum up, please go easy on the rename requests. Yes, we prefer to use the name they're most known by, but there are always exceptions to every rule, and trying to rigidly apply a rule to every case just creates more work for the tiny segment of the editing population that deals with cleaning up the wiki.
