Personaility[[edit source]]

Why dosen't this article say something about Peri's personaility? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Doctor 25 (talk • contribs) .

Page name[[edit source]]

Just as Mel's page is at "Melanie Bush", shouldn't this page be moved to "Perpugilliam Brown"? As far as I'm aware, Peri's full name was given only twice - in Planet of Fire and Vengeance on Varos - both times being called "Perpugilliam Brown" rather than "Peri Brown", which she doesn't seem to have ever been called on the show. -- Saxon (✉️) 18:48, August 13, 2019 (UTC)

She was also called this in The Caves of Androzani, The Mark of the Rani and The Mysterious Planet. [EDIT: and The Ultimate Foe] Again, she has never been called "Peri Brown" onscreen. -- Saxon (✉️) 21:33, August 13, 2019 (UTC)

Rename tag[[edit source]]

Removed the rename tag, as its claim is based solely on television stories. There are multiple prose stories where she is called "Peri". In addition, she is credited as "Peri", and she is mostly known to fans as "Peri". Shambala108 01:38, August 25, 2019 (UTC)

Could you provide some examples of media that explicitly calls her "Peri Brown"? Mel is known to fans as "Mel" rather than "Melanie" but her page is named that because she is referred to as "Melanie Bush" just as, in the show, Peri is "Perpugilliam Brown". Similarly, we have "Charlotte Pollard" despite being known to fans as "Charley" and "Wilfred Mott" despite being known as "Wilf". -- Saxon (✉️) 21:28, August 25, 2019 (UTC)
First of all, removing of delete/rename/merge tags is an admin job, and if an admin performs one of these tasks, you must not undo the action. Ask the admin if you're unsure of the reasons, but never re-add it or you risk running afoul of Tardis:Do not disrupt this wiki to prove a point.
I'm not sure why you think the longer version of the name is what she's most known by. She is occasionally called by the full name by the Doctor, but mostly by the shorter name (including by the narration in prose stories).
Sometimes a rename doesn't need discussion if an admin thinks it's not necessary. This page has been on the wiki for over ten years, as have the others you mentioned, and they have thousands of pages linking to them. There's no reason to move any of these unless something else comes up in the future (given the way the DWU writers work, anything is possible).
Interestingly the original edit summary is as follows: "Since she was usually referred as "Peri," I think the original article at Perpugilliam Brown should be moved here [to Peri Brown]."
To make things easier, I'll sum up the other ones you mentioned here, instead of having to leave messages on three other talk pages. Charlotte Pollard has a redirect at Charley Pollard; no rename necessary. Melanie Bush has a redirect at Mel Bush; no rename necessary. Wilfred Mott, not really necessary but you could argue for a redirect, which I don't think exists right now.
To sum up, please go easy on the rename requests. Yes, we prefer to use the name they're most known by, but there are always exceptions to every rule, and trying to rigidly apply a rule to every case just creates more work for the tiny segment of the editing population that deals with cleaning up the wiki. Thanks Shambala108 22:15, August 25, 2019 (UTC)
And to further back up your point, here is an example of Peri calling herself "Peri Brown" from AUDIO: Paradise 5.
GABRIEL: Indeed. My name is Gabriel. I am the face and the voice of the Paradise Consortium, at least as far as the paying guests are concerned.
PERI: I'm Peri. Peri Brown.

Queen Gilliam[[edit source]]

We know from Peri and the Piscon Paradox that there are at least five versions of Peri around, with one being a Warrior Queen married with three children and another having had her memory of all adventures but Planet of Fire removed and sent to Earth. The Mindwarp novelisation tells us that Peri and Yrcanos were sent from Thoros-Beta to 1990s Earth, so we can consider that a third version.

A fourth Peri appears in The Widow's Assassin where she's been living on Krontep, meaning that there are at least two versions of Peri living on apparently separate Kronteps. With this in mind, I wonder if we should separate Queen Gilliam (who appears in Bad Therapy) from the happily-married mother Peri to cover her as another potential version rather than giving the "according to another account" treatment.

The main difference between Queen Gilliam and the majority of depictions of the Warrior Queen is that she doesn't love Yrcanos and doesn't seem to have any children. (EDIT: It's actually made quite clear that she has not had any.) Is this and her being returned to Earth by the Seventh Doctor enough to justify giving her her own section? Jack "BtR" Saxon 14:03, 3 November 2023 (UTC)

Pretty much every time we’ve seen Peri on Krontep it’s been a different account.
  • Bad Therapy has her spending 25 years with Yrcanos in a loveless marriage before escaping to Earth.
  • Reunion has her making the best of her life on Krontep with kids but she’s bitter and doesn’t forgive the Doctor for leaving her.
  • Age of Chaos has Peri live a long and happy life on Krontep with kids and grandkids, and the Doctor and Frobisher regularly visiting her family.
  • The Widow's Assassin has Yrcanos die on their wedding night, Peri only spends 5 years on Krontep and that entire time she’s basically in a coma and Mandrake is controlling her body. She’s also infertile which is a major part of the plot and her character arc in Big Finish.
  • The Eternal Mystery and Tales of the TARDIS has her live a long life with Yrcanos as the Warrior Queen until his death, at which point she makes her way back to 21st Century Earth and ends up being reunited with the Doctor for the first time since Mindwarp in the Memory TARDIS, and resumes her travels with the Sixth Doctor. Gallery Section[[edit source]]

Perhaps we could add in a gallery section? I know that other character and episode profiles are gradually being given similar gallery sections. -- TARDIS91

A gallery subpage at Peri Brown/Gallery would be quite reasonable, I believe. Cookieboy 2005 16:30, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Updated Profile Image?[[edit source]]

I've put up some images for the gallery section, and found one from 'Timelash' which I thought might make a good updated profile image.

I've uploaded some more images in the gallery, and wondered if any of these other ones might make a good updated profile image.

Anyone else think this could work?

Oh, and here are a few more from Attack of the Cybermen.

The problem with Peri is she has no definitive look that could function for a profilr image. That being said, I like #3 from Attack of the Cybermen most. BananaClownMan 10:38, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
Out of these, I'd say one of the left-facing ones from Revelation of the Daleks. The Trial of a Time Lord hairstyle just isn't as iconic to her character. The third from Attack of the Cybermen could also work with a little bit of cropping, but I'd prefer to have one where she doesn't look like she's mid-sentence. LauraBatham 10:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
I myself quite like the Mindwarp one or the 4th one from Attack of the Cybermen. TARDIS91 11:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
