A39

The A39 was a road in south-west England which ran along the coast of Exmoor National Park.

The road intersected with junction 23 of a motorway north-east of Bridgewater. From there it than ran south to Bridgwater, then ran west through Holford and along the south coast of the Bristol Channel past Bridgewater Bay. It ran along the north edge of Exmoor National Park, through the coastal towns and villages of Dunster, Minehead, Porlock and Lynmouth, then ran south-west through the Exmoor and through Blackmoor Gate at the western edge of the park. The A39 continued south-west to Barnstaple where it intersected with the A361 and the A377. The A39 then continued south-west from Barnstaple.

The A39 appeared on Mary Cooper's map of overflow camps in and around Wales. (TV: The Categories of Life)
