The Doctors Say Thank You was a segment recorded for The Big Night In.

The segment featured independently-recorded messages from almost every living Doctor actor, all whilst in self-isolation, thanking the NHS key workers putting their lives on the line to care for patients amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

References

  • Jo Martin and Peter Capaldi quote the Doctor's vow; "never be cruel, or cowardly, never give up, and never give in".

Notes

  • Every living actor to have played the Doctor on screen for a significant amount of time took part, with the sole exception being Ninth Doctor actor Christopher Eccleston. Eccleston previously recorded his own tribute to the NHS a week prior for BBC Radio 5.[1]
    • Eccleston later clarified his lack of participation on his official Instagram account, angrily stating his personal belief that something as essential to human life and well-being as the NHS should never be in a position of requiring charity funding in the first place, and blaming the current Tory government for this[2]
