An old man and his companion were offworlders involved in repelling the Dalek invasion of Mars. They downed a flying saucer at Argyre Dam and helped with coordinating the final attack. He had thin white hair and an aquiline face, and he wore a blue business suit that Bernice Summerfield considered "stylish". (PROSE: Beige Planet Mars)
Behind the scenes
- The old man is the 42nd incarnation of the Doctor co-created by Lance Parkin and Mark Clapham[1] for the Odyssey series of fan novellas.[2] His appearance was based on Ian Richardson. He had previously been planned to appear in the epilogue of The Dying Days alongside his wife Iphegenia; that short story would have explained his involvement in the Final Dalek War.[1][2] This Doctor and Iphegenia also appeared in Beige Planet Mars and Clapham's short story Wheel from the 2003 fanzine Myth Makers Presents: Essentials.[3]
