River Song used a sonic pen torch, given its name because the Doctor had already taken "sonic screwdriver". It did not work on stone and doubled as a torch.
River took the sonic pen torch with her to Chasca Major. She used it to get into the Decayed Master's tomb and as a torch in the Great Ziggurat on Chasca Minor, where she encountered difficulties with its other functions due to it not working on stone. (AUDIO: Animal Instinct)
