Plot

The Doctor and Keira find that a massive wall has been built around Bristol and use the psychic paper to enter the gate. The city is inhabited by both humans and aliens and the technology, which includes a Calandran transit station, is a combination of the primitive and futuristic. Returning to the TARDIS, the Doctor confirms that Keira's jump through the Time Vortex and her actions on Calandra have caused a fracture which is compressing the histories of that planet and Earth.

The Doctor detects an anomaly along the fracture at the Battle of Crécy in 1346 and heads there with Keira, finding that tanks and weapons are emerging through a split in time. He puts together a temporal shock grenade which closes the split and they leave after Pennou, believing them to be working for the King, accuses them of using witchcraft. They close splits in the Victoria and Albert Intergalactic Spaceport in Old Dundee, a 1950s Arctic research station, pre-historic Ethiopia and a saloon.
