At some point near the end of the Seventh Doctor's life, he began to use a TARDIS control room which resembled a victorian parlour. This console room was then inherited by the Eighth Doctor (TV: Doctor Who), who used it with the majority of his companions. (PROSE: The Eight Doctors, The Taint (novel), Interference, AUDIO: Storm Warning, Blood of the Daleks, The Great War, et al.)

History

Origin

Accounts differed on the origin of this console room, with one claiming it was the "secondary" console room when compared to white console room he had used prior, whilst also claiming it was actually the intended-primary one, with the white console room being originally intended as the secondary one (PROSE: The Dying Days), whilst many others suggested it was physically the same console room he had used prior, but redisgned for a variety of possible reasons, including:

Companions

The Eighth Doctor initially used this console room when travelling with Sam Jones (PROSE: The Eight Doctors et al.), Fitz Kreiner (PROSE: The Taint et al.), Compassion (PROSE: Interference - Book Two), Charlotte Pollard (AUDIO: Storm Warning et al.), C'rizz (AUDIO: The Creed of the Kromon et al.), Lucie Miller (AUDIO: Blood of the Daleks et al.), Molly O'Sullivan (AUDIO: The Great War), Liv Chenka (AUDIO: The Traitor et al.), and Helen Sinclair (AUDIO: The Red Lady et al.)

Edifice

Main article: Edifice (The Ancestor Cell)

Following the destruction of the TARDIS in a dimensional tear (PROSE: The Shadows of Avalon), and influence from the Eighth Doctor's biodata virus (PROSE: Interference), the TARDIS reconstructed itself as a massive bone-like structure, which caused its interior to appear to be made of bone, although it was otherwise the same. (PROSE: The Ancestor Cell (novel)). Following the Faction paradox invasion of Gallifrey, The Doctor's TARDIS console room went temporarily dorment whilst it recovered (PROSE: The Burning), before gaing a new appearance. (PROSE: Escape Velocity.

Description

This console room was much larger than any that came before or after it. Additionally, the actual TARDIS control console was not the main feature - like most other models - but instead one feature in the middle. A homely fireplace was in one corner, with an arm chair next to it, which the Doctor often read in. The walls all around where covered in books, including in an alcove to the side. Contrasting with the Doctor's prior console room(s), this one was not at all evenly lit, with multiple light sources focusing attention on different areas, creating an all-round homely feel. (TV: Doctor Who).
