Dennis the Menace was a "rascally rascal" who once stuck a pound to the ground and tricked a police officer into attempting to pick it up. After his dog, Gnasher, painted a red target onto the officer's posterior, he flung an array of cactus spikes towards it, causing the officer to jump into the air in pain, losing his "gnashers", which popped a large Red Nose-shaped balloon filled with celebrities which was floating over Beanotown. The celebrities, including a Dalek, in the balloon then fell into a jam factory and exited covered in jam, to which Dennis remarked "I thought it was just your nose that was meant to be red." before sending Gnasher to lick them clean. Dennis then told the celebrities that he and Gnasher would fix the balloon, and told them to have a look around Beanotown. (COMIC: Dennis the Menace in Balloonatics)

Dennis the Menace is the titular character of a long-running comic strip in the UK magazine The Beano, with which Dennis the Menace in Balloonatics was a crossover.

Dennis appeared on the cover of the Beano's 2013 reprinting of their 1981 Summer Special (the very magazine that appeared in The Rings of Akhaten) where he is depicted catapulting a yellow Eternal Dalek over a fence towards an unsuspecting Sergeant Slipper using a plank and wooden crate (Dennis declaring "I'm the biggest menace in the Universe!", while his dog Gnasher sniggers "Gnexterminate!"). Dennis also introduced the issue.

On screen, Dennis was voiced by Susan Sheridan in The Beano Video, Richard Pearce in the 1996 Dennis and Gnasher TV series, and by Sophie Aldred and Chris Johnson in the first and second series, respectively, of the similarly named 2009 series.
