Georg Hegel

Georg Hegel was a philosopher. He taught philosophy at the University of Heidelberg from 1816. One student, matching the description of Robert Scarratt, studied under him at Heidelberg, and Hegel was impressed with his didactic skill. Hegel suggested that, by putting together an idea (a thesis) and its opposite (the antithesis), the end result would be the synthesis. After the Seventh Doctor explained the concept to Ace and got her to apply it to Avram's story of a conflict between the gods Utnapishtim and Ishtar which resulted in a devastating flood, she realised that his story was actually about aliens who destroyed their planet with the survivors escaping to Earth in a space ark.
