Image placement issues

Still think the RTD image would look much better placed on the left-hand side; I will die on this hill...TheGreatGabester 20:38, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

Edit war

Protecting this page for an hour to let the edit war cool down. Tardis:Don't over-wikify is explicit in saying one link per section, (unless the article has no sections, which does not apply in this case). User:Jack "BtR" Saxon's edits and reasoning are correct and should not be reverted. Shambala108 01:08, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Too literally interpreted. Seasons/Series pages are huge and therefore each section is huge, therefore a link should be there more than once if the thing linked to is mentioned more than once, as long as these links are not too close together and too often. The notion that you can’t do that is ridiculous as it requires you to scroll, something that very policy actually says in the very text of it that linking prevents. Furthermore most pages on the wiki has at least one section and require you to scroll, and those without sections are 3 paragraphs long at most and doesn’t require the readers to scroll, and therefore would not require multiple-linking. In conclusion the policy is out-dated and needs to be changed. —Danniesen 01:44, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
I agree, but hopefully this will be something we can discuss within a week or two on the forums. Najawin 01:58, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

Rename

I agree that this should be renamed to "60th Anniversary Specials" rather than "2023 Specials". No further notes. — Fractal Doctor @ 18:30, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

I disagree. As per the precedent of the similarly named 2013 specials. Those are not officially called thus either. The 2022 specials are also such named on the Series 13 (Doctor Who) page, and their page would have been such named as well if they were treated seperately to that series. Danniesen 12:40, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Uncertain about the 2022 specials, but I think renaming this page makes sense; the home media releases refer to the trilogy as "60th Anniversary Specials", and this set of specials notably does not contain The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"], a special releasing later this year. However, I do see the argument in keeping things consistent. 13:02, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
I had the Xmas special in mind when I created the page in the first place long ago. I did have a long think about whether it was a good idea, knowing that the Xmas special also aired within the same year. I came to the conclusion at the time that this didn’t matter in the end, that the Xmas special, though airing in 2023, would not be part of the "2023 specials" collection. Danniesen 13:12, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
You will perhaps notice on the Series 14 page that I originally included these specials as a precursor to that series on that series page itself, but later decided for a split to be the best option, knowing the Xmas special was in 2023. Danniesen 13:16, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
They should use official names rather than our coined ones. Also I’d make a case that the 2009 specials and 2022 specials, despite being part of series, should also have separate pages. They can be attached to a series and still be separate. The Specials, 50th Anniversary Specials, The Series 13 Specials and 60th Anniversary Specials are the official name. 81.108.82.15talk to me 10:34, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

"The Specials" is not specific enough. It could refer to any set of specials. "The 50th Anniversary Specials" is not a name given anywhere. Plus it is only one of those that is the 50th anniversary special. "The Series 13 Specials" is not an official name anywhere either. Danniesen 10:53, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

With respect, you are wrong. Those four are the official names given on the steelbook release. There is a precedent to go with DVD tiles. Better than making them up. 81.108.82.15talk to me 13:38, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
The Specials, vague or not, is the official title on all releases. 50th Anniversary Specials is what the steelbook calls the 2013 specials, 2022 specials are called "The Series 13 Specials" and the 60th Anniversary Specials are called just that. 81.108.82.15talk to me 13:40, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
"60th Anniversary Specials" is also used in DWM 598's Gallifrey Guardian. 01:25, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
The latest DWM repeatedly uses "60th Anniversary Specials". The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"] is part of Series 14 in the same way that the 2022 specials are part of Series 13 (Doctor Who), just before rather than after. Regarding the 2013 specials, I just had a look and yeah, while it’s true that “50th anniversary specials” is used on the box set, the box set also included The Name of the Doctor [+]Loading...["The Name of the Doctor (TV story)"], which is a regular episode of Series 7, very much not a 50th anniversary special, as well as The Time of the Doctor [+]Loading...["The Time of the Doctor (TV story)"], which we know is a Christmas Special, not a 50th anniversary special. In regards to the 2008-10 specials, I have to once again point out that "The Specials" is a name that can be applied to literally any set of specials, not to mention all of them in fact. And "Series 13 Specials" is just a very clunky name. Naming them as per their years just looks much better. Danniesen 10:05, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
