Love & War was the fourteenth short story published in Arcbeatle Press's The Book of the Snowstorm, was written by Aristide Twain.
It made excessive use of footnotes to expand upon points in a manner akin to Terry Pratchett's work, in addition to the entire short story being presented as a report. Additionally, it frequently cited sources, both which exist in the real world - such as L. Miles's The Book of the War - and imagined ones - such as I. Wan Cordell's Archon: When Being Ethereal Just Isn’t Enough.
