Total event collapse
A total event collapse was, as the Eleventh Doctor explained, a time explosion that "blasted every atom in every moment;" (TV: The Big Bang) every sun would "supernova at every moment in history" and "the whole universe [would] never have existed". (TV: The Pandorica Opens)
While all time travel was theoretically dangerous, a Total Event Collapse was considered "extreme circumstances," resulting from the destruction of a TARDIS whilst in time travel mode. (PROSE: TARDIS Type 40 Instruction Manual)
Thinking he would cause the cracks in the skin of the universe, and believing "all universes [would] be deleted," the Pandorica Alliance captured the Doctor and locked him in the Pandorica on 102A.D. Earth. This unintentionally prevented the Doctor from stopping the explosion, (TV: The Pandorica Opens) caused by the Kovarian Faction sabotaging his TARDIS. The ship explode whilst travelling in the Time Vortex, starting a catastrophic cascade that effectively caused the destruction of all matter both spatially and temporally, wiping out every planet in existence. Because it was at the "eye of the storm," Earth survived due to the exploding TARDIS acting as a substitute sun, enabling the planet to continue existing until 1996 before it too started to be erased. The members of the various Alliance races present, such as the Cybermen and Daleks, were left as stone statues, described by the Doctor as the "footprints of the never-were." (TV: The Big Bang)
Realising the Pandoirca contained a few billion atoms of the original universe, the Doctor flew it into the exploding TARDIS, sending its restoration field across every point in time, initiating a second Big Bang and successfully rebooting the universe. (TV: The Big Bang)
