The Bandril Invasion was the fourth novel in the The Lucy Wilson Mysteries series published by Candy Jar Books.

Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Billy Bandril is the TV sensation sweeping the nation! The hilarious antics of this anarchic puppet have kids and their parents waiting all week for another episode of mayhem.

Fresh from her latest adventure, Lucy Wilson could use some time relaxing in front of the box. But Hobo isn’t too sure... There’s something sinister about Billy and his influence over the viewing public.

When Lucy finds herself live on air with Billy, it’s up to Hobo to interrupt the broadcast, before the curtains close... forever.

Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • Billy Bandril's puppet show is a joke on how the Bandrils in Timelash are infamously puppets.
  • A key plot element is that the Bandril puppeteer remains hidden and the show is a front for their invasion. This was intended by Wink Taylor as a malevolent twist on how "the puppeteers at all times remained firmly hidden" on shows like Sooty and Basil Brush, something that always fascinated him.[1]
  • Albert has an iPad.
  • Albert takes Lucy to B&Q.
  • The Billy Bandril Show is a hit on YouTube.
