The Thirteenth Doctor's control room had a crystalline TARDIS control console.

Layout

When the TARDIS returned for the Thirteenth Doctor on the planet Desolation, the control room had completely redecorated and a new console was present. The console itself appeared almost naturally grown in keeping with the crystalline appearance of the support structures connecting it to the floor. The time rotor was now a solid crystal with an orange illumination all the way around.

The controls all screwed onto the solid crystal surface of the console, and were connected above the surface by tubes and wires. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

There were six control panels with steampunk controls strewn across them all. (TV: The Ghost Monument)

The TARDIS scanner's monitor later became a smoke screen instead. (TV: Spyfall, PROSE: TARDIS Tour)

Panel 1

The panel facing the TARDIS doors. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

This panel had four-pronged pipes.

The lower part of the panel had two gauges and a knob. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

By the time of the First Flux event, the Doctor kept a hammer hanging by this panel, which she could use to smash the crystal and let out Vortex energy. (TV: The Halloween Apocalypse [+]Loading...["The Halloween Apocalypse (TV story)"])

Divider 1-2

The divider between the first and second panels had four small switches on the first panel's side. It also had a wheel facing outwards from its tip.

Above this divider was a viewing device resembling the end of a microscope. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

Panel 2

The first panel to the left of the TARDIS doors. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

This panel had two-pronged pipes.

The Doctor once kept a box of safety matches on the lower right side of this panel. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

A tube which curved from under the bottom right side of this panel could dispense spherical medicine. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

Divider 2-3

This divider had a wheel on the side facing the second panel. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

The Doctor could used this surface as a makeshift area to get a better look at small objects using a series of clips and magnifying lenses. The TARDIS could also see what was being examined here, and could communicate its opinions on the findings through noises to the Doctor. (TV: Can You Hear Me? [+]Loading...["Can You Hear Me? (TV story)"])

Panel 3

This panel had four-pronged pipes.

An hourglass was above this panel.

The panel's upper section had a device which gave information when it shone light into the Doctor's eyes. The Doctor kept an alarm monitoring Earth which would notify her through this component. The Doctor was able to put a roundel of the same design as those on the walls like a screen over this device. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

Around the time of the Kasaavin invasion, the Doctor added a new information display on an arm extending from this panel. It would project its visuals on a rising wall of mist. (TV: Spyfall [+]Loading...["Spyfall (TV story)"])

The middle of this panel had a red lever which could create vacuum corridors in the TARDIS' air bubble. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

In order to connect a human to the telepathic circuits, the Doctor needed to connect a headset to this panel to scan the human's mind. (TV: Can You Hear Me? [+]Loading...["Can You Hear Me? (TV story)"])

Divider 3-4

One of the console's two dematerialisation levers was located here. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

Panel 4

The panel opposite to the TARDIS doors. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

This panel had two-pronged pipes.

The panel's upper section had another device which gave information when it shone light into the Doctor's eyes. It could be used to scan the Doctor's surrounding and do bio-profiling of nearby lifeforms. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

Below the previous object was a metal box with a dial on it. The Doctor could use this dial to bio-fix the location of DNA. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

Beneath this panel was a biscuit dispenser operated by a foot pedal. (TV: The Ghost Monument [+]Loading...["The Ghost Monument (TV story)"])

Divider 4-5

A small transparent white recreation of the TARDIS police box exterior was at the top of this divider. This was connected to the fifth panel, and would light up and spin when the controls on that panel were used to make the TARDIS fly. Panel 5

The second panel to the right of the TARDIS doors. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

This panel had four-pronged pipes.

Switches near the top of this panel were related to the ship's exterior and using them would make the miniature TARDIS light up and spin. (TV: The Ghost Monument [+]Loading...["The Ghost Monument (TV story)"])

The lower half of this panel had a large, three-barred object. The Doctor could connect an iphone to her TARDIS with this object. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"], Spyfall [+]Loading...["Spyfall (TV story)"])

Divider 5-6

Panel 6

This panel was where the Doctor could use the telepathic circuits. (TV: Demons of the Punjab [+]Loading...["Demons of the Punjab (TV story)"]) Even without a object to telepathically track, the controls could be used to locate objects in time and space. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"]) These controls could also be used to cross-reference signals to triangulate the location of objects. They could also be used to hack into live satellite feeds. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

This panel had two-pronged pipes.

The lower part of this panel had a combination dial in its middle.

The upper part had three switches and a valve. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"]) An object could be placed on the valve for the telepathic circuits to track locations from its history. (TV: Demons of the Punjab [+]Loading...["Demons of the Punjab (TV story)"])

Divider 6-1

The top of this divider had an hourglass and a large microphone. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"]) The microphone could be used to talk to beings outside the TARDIS, and would still function if it was removed from the console. (TV: Resolution [+]Loading...["Resolution (TV story)"])

Its side facing the sixth panel had a hand crank wheel which was used in conjunction with that panel's other controls. (GAME: The Edge of Time [+]Loading...["The Edge of Time (video game)"])

History

General usage

Behind the scenes

  • As with the rest of the control room, this console was designed by Arwel Wyn Jones. His intention with the central crystal column was for it to be a "time crystal" which powered the entire ship.[1]
  • A model was made of this console for the Doctor Who: Figurine Collection. It came with a magazine which had a diagram showing what the different controls on the console could be, but that diagram has not currently been found for this wiki.
  • Some of the controls on this console have been identified as being repurposed from the previous console.[2]
