Caslandir was a settlement on Traken, home to the Grove. It was coastal, with a row of stately villas built into a cliff hanging over a beach. Located 10 miles out of town was the great waterfall Drakendir. (PROSE: The Astronomer's Apprentice [+]Loading...["The Astronomer's Apprentice (short story)"])

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

Caslandir was once visited by Viola and Neverglade, with the latter setting up his observatory outside on a hilltop overlooking the grand estuary. During this time, the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield visited for a holiday, during which time they experienced the Feast of Melkur, with the Gardenship Festival occurring two days later. Later, the Fourth Doctor landed his TARDIS in the Grove, before becoming entangled in the Master's attempt to steal the power of the Source. (TV: The Keeper of Traken [+]Loading...["The Keeper of Traken (TV story)"])

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Caslandir is the name given in The Astronomer's Apprentice to the place where the Grove is located. No name is given to the place in The Keeper of Traken itself, nor really any indication that they are in a larger settlement.
