Behind The Scenes - Let's Do The Time Warp Again[[edit source]]

"Due to their appearance in Empress of Mars, Alpha Centauri holds the title of the second longest interval between on-screen appearances, at 43 years. The number one spot is held by the Great Intelligence with 44 years and the Macra come in at third with 40 years. Axos had the longest wait to return in all media, with a thirty-nine year gap."

I'm not sure how Axos had the longest wait to return, with 39 years being less than 44, 43, and 40. Is it something to do with the time loop it was stuck in?165.225.76.70talk to me 10:22, January 22, 2018 (UTC)

The Great Intelligence's record is for onscreen appearances and the Axos' for all media, as your quote states. -- Saxon 14:46, January 22, 2018 (UTC)

Page name[[edit source]]

I propose we simplify the name of this page to a less clunky "Alpha Centauri". Fractal Doctor 20:21, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Agreed. Anybody searching for Alpha Centauri is far more likely to be looking for this page than Alpha Centauri (planet). Jack "BtR" Saxon 20:23, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
I also agree. Danochy 09:26, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm substantially less confident of that than y'all, but willing to accept it - though I note that such a thing should wait until after Tardis:Temporary forums/Slot 5: Universalising the "(disambiguation)" dab term is resolved, since it bears directly on this matter. Seeing as both this and the planet of the same name debuted in CoP, I propose moving this page to a more intuitive Alpha Centauri (individual). Aquanafrahudy 📢 08:48, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
Do we have many examples of disambigging using (individual)? Or a similar situation to this? --Tangerineduel / talk 05:16, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Not counting this redirect, I only count three instances: Bloody Mary, Angvia, and Trath. All three pages are on the short side of things and only have single-digit incoming links on mainspace compared to Alpha Centauri's triple digits, but the latter two are similar named-after-their-home-planet situations (or possibly the other way around).
On a personal note, as a broader enjoyer of science fiction, if I didn't know about this character my expectation for an undabbed "Alpha Centauri" would be the star system rather than the person or planet. That said, leaving this page undabbed seems pretty reasonable to me, provided there's a {{you may}} pointing to the disambiguation page. Look-a-troopa 06:58, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
