TARDIS crystal (The Ghost Monument)
The Thirteenth Doctor's console room and TARDIS console were prominently fashioned from a type of crystal. It often glowed yellow, (TV: The Ghost Monument [+]Loading...["The Ghost Monument (TV story)"], et al.) appearing similar to the Stenza crystal which the Thirteenth Doctor's sonic screwdriver was built from. (TV: The Woman Who Fell to Earth [+]Loading...["The Woman Who Fell to Earth (TV story)"])
The Remembered TARDIS had a crystal fire which was made of this type of crystal. (TV: Earthshock [+]Loading...["Earthshock (TotT TV story)"], et al.)
Other sources indicate that a core part of a TARDIS was a green crystal. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the War Games [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the War Games (novelisation)"], et al.)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- When designing the Thirteenth Doctor's console room and the Thirteenth Doctor's sonic screwdriver, Arwel Wyn Jones intended for the crystals to establish that in the Series 11 version of the Whoniverse, Time Lord technology was crystal-based. Jones was inspired by the scientific idea of time crystals, as well as quartz crystal watches, with the idea that the crystal harnessed the immense power of the TARDIS.[1]
