Dr Malcolm Taylor was a UNIT scientific advisor at the time of the incident involving the Swarm.

Biography[[edit]]

Early life[[edit]]

Dr Malcolm Taylor was a Welshman and one of UNIT's scientific advisors, considered by Captain Erisa Magambo to be a genius. He read all of UNIT's files on the Doctor, coming to idolise them, and came up with units of measurement named after himself and Bernard Quatermass. Malcolm worked out how to close the wormhole created by the Swarm before the Tenth Doctor. Magambo ordered him to close the wormhole to protect the Earth, despite the Doctor and the passengers of Bus 200 being trapped on the other side, but he refused. Once the Doctor and the passengers made their way through, the Doctor called Malcolm to close the wormhole. In his excitement Malcolm repeatedly hung up on him, but nevertheless complied, closing the wormhole just ahead of the main swarm. After Malcolm met the Doctor for the first time in person, he hugged him and repeatedly proclaimed "I love you!" The Doctor, bemused, pointed to Malcolm affectionately as he walked away. 2010s[[edit]]

In 2013, Kate Stewart told Osgood to tell Malcolm to replace the batteries of the ravens of death. After being alerted to the presence of more than one Doctor in one place, Kate ordered Malcolm to send her one of her father's old files code-named "Cromer". Malcolm set up a hologram of the Tower of London while it underwent reconstruction after the Tengobushi attack (AUDIO: Ice Station Alpha [+]Loading...["Ice Station Alpha (audio story)"]) and tracked Petronella Osgood and Sam Bishop's descent when they fell to Earth from the Unified Space Platform. (AUDIO: In Memory Alone [+]Loading...["In Memory Alone (audio story)"]) It was thanks to his immunisations that Osgood was unaffected by John Torrance and Christine Colley's Veralium truth serum. When a shipping container appeared at Windsor Castle, Malcolm tried to scan it but informed Colonel Vikram Shindi that he could not get any signals. Malcolm headed the clean-up team which investigated the site of Missy's apparent death (PROSE: The Secret Diary of the Master [+]Loading...["The Secret Diary of the Master (short story)"]) at the hands of the temporarily-resurrected Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart.
