Scarp
Scarp was one of the people in the Forest of Penitence. Scarp and Dalfin though that the War Master and Corvel were attacking Ellie. He wanted to find a way out of the forest. He was captured by a tree, but was escaped. The Master realised that he was trying to make people feel guilty to become a tree. He was manipulating events using sounds, sensations and holograms to help the prisoners undergo penitence. He told the Master that it was his wife's idea to create the prison to forgive the prisoners who felt guilty from those who don't. He used her technology to create the system and she became the first tree in the forest because of the guilt. The Master used his guilt on this to turn him into a tree.
