- The idea of Wogan being an undercover alien was previously used in the BBC series Not the Nine O'Clock News. In one sketch, the alien Zak (played by Rowan Atkinson) defies the Galactic Council to give Earth a series of warnings, the final one being "Beware the one who calls himself Terry Wogan. He is a Zillon from the planet Tharg, and cannot be trusted".
- In Bang-Bang-a-Boom!, the character Logan (and the Intergalactic Song Contest) was a parody of Terry Wogan and the Eurovision Song Contest.
