- An English author began writing stories for The Ensign, a magazine for young boys. He would later vanish into the Land of Fiction and become the Master of the Land. (DW: The Mind Robber)
- The first British submarine was launched (DW: Enlightenment)
- Jack Harkness, who had been buried alive under Cardiff since 27 AD, was recovered by Alice Guppy and the Torchwood Cardiff team when they receive a signal from a transmitter hidden on Jack by John Hart. In order to avoid a paradox from meeting his younger self (who at this time was on an assignment) Jack requests to be cryo-preserved until he catches up to his proper timeline in 2009. - 1 - Technical beginning of the 20th century.
- 22 - Queen Victoria died on the Isle of Wight. A comment by the Fourth Doctor led Sarah Jane Smith to believe that the queen was one of his companions, though he was more probably referring to Victoria Waterfield. The Doctor, however, was present at Victoria's coronation. (DW: Pyramids of Mars, The Curse of Peladon) Victoria's death marks the end of the iconic Victorian era of Earth's history.
- Edward VII ascended the throne of Great Britain and Ireland. Sometime during his reign (1901-1910), a Rutan invasion of Earth was averted by the Doctor at the Fang Rock lighthouse. (DW: Horror of Fang Rock)
