January
- The Tenza boy George had his (supposed) eighth birthday. (DW: Night Terrors)
February
- The Eleventh Doctor dropped off Amy Pond and Rory Williams back in Leadworth. (DW: The Impossible Astronaut)
February - Spring
- Amy was abducted by Madame Kovarian and the Headless Monks so that her child could be used as a weapon against the Doctor after it was born. She was taken to Demons Run in the 52nd or 51st century . She was replaced by a ganger avatar of herself so that no one suspected anything. (DW: A Good Man Goes to War)
- The Doctor, Amy and Rory appeared in the apartment complex where the Tenza boy George lived in response to his psychic distress call. The Doctor sorted out the problems that were causing George's fears to physically manifest in the area and left him to grow up with his human parents. (DW: Night Terrors)
March
- 14: A blood bank in Buenos Aires, Argentina was burned to the ground. (TW: The Gathering)
- 15: A blood bank in Shanghai, China was burned to the ground. (TW: The Gathering))
- 19-20: At 3:36am GMT (10:36pm EST), Miracle Day occurred. Oswald Danes survived his execution. Rex Matheson and Esther Drummond investigated the word "Torchwood". Captain Jack Harkness has, by this time, returned to Earth. Rex arrived in Wales to extradite Gwen and Jack to America so that he can question them about Torchwood. Jack discovered the Miracle has made him once again mortal. (TW: The New World)
- 21: Rex Matheson began the process of having Torchwood Three extradited to the United States. (TW: The New World)
- 22: En route to Washington Dulles International Airport, Jack Harkness survives an assassination attempt by a CIA agent. Rex Matheson and Esther Drummond, now framed as double agents of the Chinese government, are forced to escape the CIA with the aid of Torchwood. (TW: Rendition)
March-April
- In Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, the new Torchwood looked into how PhiCorp related to the Miracle. Oswald Danes gained popularity and fame. (TW: Dead of Night, Escape to LA)
- Various world governments implemented the categories of life. Gwen went to Cowbridge Overflow Camp in an attempt to rescue her father, while Rex and Dr. Juarez went to San Pedro Overflow Camp. Here, Dr. Juarez was burnt inside a module. (TW: The Categories of Life)
- Jack learnt that PhiCorp was in the dark about the Miracle, but Stuart Owens told Jack that his agents traced the phrase "The Blessing". The nature of the overflow camps were revealed, but they were not shut down. (TW: The Middle Men)
- Gwen, her family held hostage, took Jack to Olivia Colasanto, who revealed Angelo Colasanto had waited a long time for Jack and knew all about the Miracle. Gwen's family were later released. (TW: Immortal Sins)
- In the Colasanto Residence, Olivia told Jack of the Three Families. Angelo became the first recorded death after Miracle Day thanks to a null field generator. Gwen was deported to the United Kingdom and Esther and Jack escaped to UK after they rendered the generator useless for the CIA. The Earth's economy began to collapse. April
- 22: An 1103 year-old version of the Eleventh Doctor recruited, using numbered envelopes, a 909 year-old version of himself (1), River Song (2), Amy Pond and Rory Williams (3), and Canton Delaware (4). All except the 909 year-old Doctor arrived in Utah and met up with the Doctor. An astronaut appeared and killed the Doctor at 4:30pm MDT. After cremating him, River, Amy and Rory went to a diner where they encountered his 909 year-old self. They left in The Doctor's TARDIS to the Oval Office in 1969. (DW: The Impossible Astronaut)
June
- Jilly Kitzinger started working for the Three Families. Aided by Oswald Danes, the reunited Torchwood discovered more about the Blessing, tracing it to Buenos Aires and Shanghai and reversing the effects. Esther Drummond was shot and killed, and Geraint Cooper finally passed away. Oswald detonated a bomb, killing himself and The Mother. Rex Matheson discovered he was still immortal. July
- Doris Lethbridge-Stewart died in a boating accident. (EDA: The Shadows of Avalon)
Spring/Summer
- After 22nd April - After their daughter Melody was kidnapped on Demon's Run, Amy and Rory returned to Leadworth, awaiting the Doctor's return. (DW: Let's Kill Hitler)
Late Summer
- Amy and Rory drive through a field and summon the the Doctor by creating a crop circle-like message spelling out the word "Doctor". The Doctor stated he still hadn't found their daughter Melody. Shortly afterwards, Amy and Rory's friend Mels arrived to force the Doctor to kill Hitler. The Doctor complied. (DW: Let's Kill Hitler)

- 18: First broadcast of DW: Space and Time, two 2011 Comic Relief specials (comprising one story) written by Steven Moffat, and the first televised story to have no settings other than the TARDIS since DW: The Edge of Destruction (although technically Amy's Choice also took place entirely inside the ship.).
- 28: Release of second Revisitations DVD box set, comprising new editions of stories that were released early in the range and containing new special features. This release includes Carnival of Monsters, Resurrection of the Daleks and The Seeds of Death.

- 04: DW: A Good Man Goes to War broadcast. After this episode, Series 6 is scheduled to go on hiatus until later in the year, marking the longest mid-season hiatus in the series' history.
- 07: The BBC announces that they have commissioned a 2011 Christmas special, as well as Series 7, with Matt Smith remaining in the role of the Eleventh Doctor. Piers Wenger, however, will step down as Executive Producer and leave the BBC altogether.
- 15: The BBC, through BBC One controller Danny Cohen, confirms that the recently commissioned Series 7 will air over two years - 2012 and 2013 - although exact dates, and the consequences for the series, remain unknown.
- 20: DW: The Gunfighters and The Awakening are released on Region 2 DVD, compiled as the Earth Story box set. The release of The Awakening means that the entire Fifth Doctor era is on DVD.
July
