Craig Owens observed to the Eleventh Doctor that he always won and that he always survived. The Doctor, aware of his apparent death at Lake Silencio, remarked "those were the days". (TV: Closing Time) Whilst discussing the fate of the Twelfth Doctor, Missy acknowledged that the Doctor always survived, with Clara Oswald believing it to "because he's clever" when asked. When Missy noted that there were "lots of clever dead people", Clara added that the Doctor survived because "he always assumes he's going to win. He always knows there's a way to survive." Through Missy, Clara realised that, when the Doctor assumed he would die, they would be there for him. (TV: The Witch's Familiar)

The Ninth Doctor told Henry van Statten that a Dalek would do "what it was born to do for the survival of its species. (TV: Dalek) The Tenth Doctor, upon finding Daleks in Manhattan in 1930, lamented that "they always survive, while I lose everything." (TV: Daleks in Manhattan) Indeed, Dalek Thay would observe that "we always survive" in contradiction to Dalek Sec's claim that the Daleks would ultimately face the death and destruction that they had wrought. Ironically, both would die shortly after, Sec dying by Thay's hand when he stood to defend the Doctor, whilst Thay was destroyed in an attempt to exterminate the Dalek-humans. (TV: Evolution of the Daleks)

The Sixth Doctor took it for granted that Davros would survive, even when he was apparently killed when the spaceship he was on crashed, explaining to Lorraine Baynes that "people like him, and me, don't know any different." (AUDIO: Davros) Confronting the Daleks on Skaro whilst in Davros' chair, the Twelfth Doctor observed that Davros had survived "among several billion trigger-happy mini-tanks for centuries" whilst making note of the chair's personal force field. (TV: The Witch's Familiar)

The Eighth Doctor, upon hearing a Cyber-Leader maintain that "we will survive", quipped "yes, I've rather come to take that for granted." (AUDIO: Human Resources) Later, he claimed to the the Bruce Master that, even if he had not already met the Master's future incarnations, he would know that he had escaped his apparent destruction in the Eye of Harmony, "it's basically what you do." (AUDIO: Day of the Master) The Tenth Doctor, through contact with the Ood, learnt that a part of the Saxon Master had survived his death at the hands of Lucy Saxon, enabling his resurrection. (TV: The End of Time)

Whilst preparing to use the Moment to end the Last Great Time War by destroying both the Daleks and the Time Lords, the War Doctor admitted to the sentient weapon that he had no desire to survive the act, only to be told that his punishment would be to survive. (TV: The Day of the Dalek) The Ninth Doctor acknowledged that he did not survive the war "by choice". Encountering the Dalek named Metaltron, the Doctor reasoned that it was the only survivor, having fallen through time. Being made aware of the war's end, the Dalek gloated to the Doctor that "the coward survived" while maintaining that, through itself, the Daleks survived, that they must survive. Having developed human emotions from contact with Rose Tyler, the Dalek asked the Doctor why they survived, to which the Doctor answered that he did not know. Following the Dalek's self-destruction, Rose cited its survival to suggest that other Time Lords could done so as well. However, the Doctor, who believed that he would know if they had, stated that it felt like there was no-one. (TV: Dalek)

Later, in 200,100, the Doctor found that the Daleks had survived through their Emperor, whose ship survived the Doctor's "inferno". (TV: The Parting of the Ways)

Sec of the Cult of Skaro believed the Genesis Ark to be all that survived of Gallifrey. He was surprised to learn that the Emperor had survived the war, and enraged to know that Rose used the Time Vortex to destroy him. Confronting Sec, the Tenth Doctor answered that he survived the war by fighting "on the front line", acknowledging his participation in the Fall of Arcadia. Sec defended himself when the Doctor observed that the Cult had "ran away", maintaining that they had to survive. (TV: Doomsday)

On the last day of the Time War, the Chancellor made Rassilon aware of a prophecy which spoke of two survivors beyond the day, locked in the "emnity of ages", whom Rassilon understood to be the Doctor and the Master. (TV: The End of Time)
