Euro-Combine Treaty
During the 2000s, a male Prime Minister signed the Euro-Combine Treaty. This was controversial for increasing ties with the rest of the EU, which some saw as undermining British sovereignty.
After it was signed, a conspiracy started a wave of terrorism in the hopes of getting him to declare martial law and give ICIS the power to take charge; this would then allow the conspiracy to end the treaty and remove the Prime Minister. After UNIT exposed the plot, the Prime Minister declared he would shut down ICIS over this. (AUDIO: The Longest Night)
In 2021, there was a Euro Combine Health Administration with jurisdiction in the UK. (AUDIO: The Harvest)

When produced, both The Longest Night (2005) and The Harvest (2004) assumed the greater integration of the European Union would continue; the contemporary BBC Books story PROSE: Trading Futures had created a mid-21st century Eurozone block including the UK.
In 2016, Britain left the European Union and this has been depicted in subsequent fiction instead of a unified Europe with the UK in it.
