The Robot Invasion was the third short story in the The Lucy Wilson Mysteries series' free online anthology The Lucy Wilson Collection: School Children, all of whose entries were written by schoolchildren. It became, as such, the first published work of young Jacob Lovell.

Lucy and Hobo are forced to flee their schools after its teachers, made redundant by robots who then went mad and started shooting at the students. Fleeing from a squad of robots shooting to kill, the two make their way to the beach, where Hobo finds a set of cables going through the cliffs. Following them to their source, Hobo finds the power supply of the robots, which he destroys, cutting off power to all the robots in the town — save one…
